Learn how somatic breathwork can help your patients/clients reduce tension, recover faster, and help the body actually hold the work.

What is Somatic Breathwork?

Somatic Breathwork is a guided practice that uses intentional breathing patterns to influence the autonomic nervous system.

In simple terms: it helps shift the body out of chronic “fight-or-flight” and into a more regulated state.

This matters because many people are operating with a constantly elevated stress response, whether they realize it or not.

That shows up physically as:

  • Persistent muscle tension and guarding.

  • Difficulty relaxing, even after treatment- whether that be a chiropractic adjustment, physical therapy, massage, or other form of bodywork.

  • Recurring and non-specific pain patterns that don’t fully resolve.

  • Additional physiological symptoms including fatigue, insomnia, inflammation, and more.

Breathwork works with the nervous system directly, not just the symptoms. It’s a transformative practice that releases stored tension and regulates the nervous system.

How Somatic Breathwork Complements Bodywork

Many people aren’t just dealing with muscular or structural issues. They’re dealing with a nervous system that’s stuck in a protective state, whether that’s fight-or-flight or freeze.

That can make it more difficult for any kind of bodywork to stick- even from the most skilled practitioner.

Somatic breathwork helps address that by:

  • Helping patients/clients relax more fully and recover more quickly after bodywork treatment.

  • Reducing involuntary muscle guarding.

  • Addressing the stress component driving many forms of chronic tension and pain.

  • Supporting longer lasting results between bodywork treatments.

  • Improving body awareness so patients/clients don’t keep recreating the same patterns.

Who This Can Help

  • Individuals with chronic muscle tightness that keeps coming back.

  • High-stress professionals who can’t seem to “turn it off”.

  • Athletes dealing with pain, tension, and recovery issues.

  • Anyone who experiences anxiety or struggles to relax, even when they want to.

Hi, I’m Jen, a Somatic Breathwork Practitioner and a Holistic Health and Leadership Coach.

My training as a somatic breathwork practitioner is with SOMA+IQ™, and I am also skilled in additional breathwork modalities, often called “pranayama”. My goal is to guide my clients through a transformative experience and also help them incorporate breathwork into their daily life so that the effects are long lasting.

As a coach, I specialize in helping high-performing women with burnout prevention and recovery. Somatic Breathwork and other approaches to nervous system regulation form a key part of that work (learn more about it HERE).

I support clients in Rhode Island and virtually, world-wide.
